How to Submit a Dream: Frequently Asked Questions

Your dream can be silly, funny, scary, weird, crazy, wacky, terrifying or all of those things, we will interpret whatever you send us! Please include your name and location or as much information as you feel comfortable sharing!  Also try to keep dreams to around 3 minutes or less (but don't worry too much about the length this is just a guideline).

  1. Open the Voice Memos app: Locate the Voice Memos app on your iPhone's home screen (or in the Utilities folder). 
  2. Start recording: Tap the large red record button at the bottom of the screen. 
  3. Pause or resume: Tap anywhere in the recording pane to bring up the pause button. Tap the pause button to pause the recording and the resume button to continue. 
  4. Stop recording: Tap the Done button to finish recording.

To record a voice memo on Android, use your device's built-in Voice Recorder app or a third-party recording app. 

  • Open the app, tap the record button (often a microphone icon or a red circle), and then tap the stop button when finished. 
  • Afterwards, you can save the recording and share it.  
  • Once you are finished recording attach it to an email and send it to dreams@coolsideofthepillow.com  
  • Keep the recording to around 3 minutes or less (but don't worry too much about the length this is just a guideline). 

 1. Using the Built-in Voice Recorder App: 

  • Find the app: Most Android devices come with a pre-installed Voice Recorder app. It might be in a folder labeled "Apps," "Utilities," or your device manufacturer's name (e.g., "Samsung"). 
  • Open the app: Locate the Voice Recorder icon and tap it to open. 
  • Start recording: Look for a record button (often a microphone icon or a red circle). Tap it to begin recording. 
  • Stop recording: When you're finished, tap the stop button to save the recording. 
  • Name and save: You might be prompted to name the recording before saving it. 
  • Review and share: You can then listen to your recording and share it with others, often through the app's share menu. 

 2. Using Third-Party Recording Apps: 

  • Download an app: Many third-party recording apps are available on the Google Play Store. 
  • Open and start recording: Open the app and look for the record button to begin recording. 
  • Stop recording: Tap the stop button when you're finished. 
  • Save and share: Save the recording and share it with others using the app's features. 

 How to Share Voice Recordings:

  • Open the app: Access the Voice Recorder app or the app where you saved your recording. 
  • Select the recording: Find the specific recording you want to share. 
  • Tap the share button: Look for a share icon (often a three-dot menu or an arrow pointing upwards). 
  • Choose your sharing method: Select how you want to share the recording (e.g., via email, messaging apps, or cloud storage). 


To record a voice memo on a PC, use the built-in Voice Recorder app in Windows 10/11. Open the Start menu, type "Voice Recorder," and click on the app. Then, click the microphone icon to start recording, pause with the pause icon, and stop with the square stop icon. The recording will be saved in your Documents folder. 

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1. Access the Voice Recorder app: 

  • Open the Start menu. 
  • Type "Voice Recorder" into the search bar. 
  • Click on the "Voice Recorder" app from the search results. 

2. Start recording:

  • Click the large microphone icon in the center of the app to start recording. 

3. Pause and resume:

  • Click the pause icon to pause recording. 
  • Click the microphone icon again to resume recording. 

4. Stop recording:

  • Click the square stop icon to stop recording. 

5. Save and edit:

  • The recording will be automatically saved in a subfolder of your Documents folder called "Sound Recordings". 
  • You can use the "Share," "Trim," or "Delete" options at the bottom right of the app to edit your recording. 

6. Email

  • Attach the audio recording to an email to dreams@coolsideofthepillow.com

To record a voice message on your Mac, you can use the Voice Memos app or the Messages app. Voice Memos allows you to create recordings for various purposes, while Messages enables you to send audio messages to contacts.

Using Voice Memos:

  1. Open Voice Memos: You can find it in your Applications folder or in your Dock. 
  2. Start Recording: Click the red record button. 
  3. Pause and Resume: Click the record button again to pause, and then click the resume button to continue. 
  4. Stop Recording: Click the "Done" button to finish recording. 
  5. Review and Save: Your recording will appear in the left sidebar, where you can play it back, edit it, or save it to a folder.
